  6. The outside diameter of the lens is 
  7. called the overall diameter (OAD) or 
  8. overall size (OS).  
  9.  
  10. The OAD is specified in millimeters.  
  11. For rigid corneal lenses the OAD is 
  12. usually in the range of 8.0 mm to 11.0 mm.  
  13. For hydrogel lenses it is 12.0 mm to 16.0 mm.
